Brad Niethammer named Interim Director of Athletics at Webber International University

Babson Park, Fla. (07/08/2020) — Webber's President and CEO Dr. Keith Wade has announced that Brad Niethammer will serve as interim Director of Athletics at Webber International University, effective July 27, 2020.

Niethammer has been Webber's Associate Athletic Director since March 2020, and previously was the Assistant Athletic Director and was the Warriors' Head Baseball Coach.

As Associate Athletic Director, Niethammer oversaw Webber's AD responsibilities for external operations and budgets.

Following the 2019 baseball season, Niethammer stepped down from his role as the first head coach in the history of the Webber baseball program to focus on his responsibilities as an AD.

Niethammer, who was Webber's Head Baseball Coach for 26 years beginning in 1994, retired with over 750 career wins, a career record of 765-659 (which put him in the top-20 on the NAIA's list of winningest active coaches at the time), a .537 winning percentage, the program's first and only Sun Conference Tournament Championship in 2018, three straight NAIA National Championship Opening Round appearances from 2017 through 2019, a USCAA National Championship in 2005, 16 30-plus win seasons and 14 postseason appearances.

"Brad Niethammer is one of Webber's longest serving employees, and I have every confidence in his abilities and in his dedication to our university and our student-athletes," said Wade.

The University will begin a national search later this year.

Niethammer graduated from Appalachian State University with his bachelor's degree in 1990 and then graduated from Webber International University with his Master's degree (MBA) in sport management 19 years later in 2009. He currently lives in Babson Park, Florida, and has two daughters, Brenna and Tori.
