Caleb Wisecarver named new Head Track & Field Coach at Webber

by Richard Baptist

Babson Park, Fla. (08/12/2020) — Webber International University Athletics would like to welcome Caleb Wisecarver as the next Head Men's and Women's Track & Field Coach for the Warriors.

Wisecarver will join the Warriors after spending the last three seasons as an assistant track & field coach at The University of North Carolina at Pembroke (UNCP), an NCAA Division-II program led by former Warrior Cross Country and Track & Field Coach, Dr. Peter Ormsby.

At UNCP, Wisecarver coached 20 national qualifiers, five Peach Belt Conference Champions, two Mountain East Conference champions, 15 All-PBC outdoor performers, 11 All-MEC indoor performers, nine All-Southeastern Region indoor performers, and 10 All-Southeast Region outdoor performers.

Before his time at UNCP, Wisecarver was an assistant track & field coach for the Spring semester at Brother Martin High School in New Orleans, Louisiana.

Wisecarver, who specializes in coaching the jumps, most specially the pole vault, will now take his coaching talents to Babson Park, Florida, and will look to lean on the guidance and strong foundation created by Coach David Andrews, who will remain on staff as an assistant track & field coach, and Head Cross Country Coach James Simpson.

"I am very excited to join the Webber family," said Wisecarver. "Working for Dr. Ormsby, I was able to gain an appreciation for the tradition of athletics that has been established at Webber from someone who had contributed to it first-hand. The Sun Conference and the state of Florida as a whole present many opportunities for high-level competition and access to talented recruits across the Southeast. In addition, being able to add on to the legacy of Webber track & field fostered by Coach David Andrews over the past years while keeping him on staff will surely contribute to more success in the future. I can't wait to make an impact as a Warrior."

Wisecarver is originally from Monroe, Louisiana, and attend Ouachita Christian High School before earning his Bachelor's degree in Kinesiology with a focus in Exercise Science from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette (2016), where he was an NCAA Division-I pole vaulter.

"I am very excited to have Caleb as our new Head Track & Field Coach," said Webber's Director of Athletics Brad Niethammer. "He has a strong resume both as a student-athlete and as a coach, and was highly recommend to us. I look forward to watching him take on this challenge and see where he takes the program."

Join us in welcoming Coach Caleb Wisecarver to the Warrior family.
