Men's lacrosse adds Josh Cargile to inaugural recruiting class

Babson Park, Fla. (07/07/2020) — Joshua Cargile from Hillgrove High School and Marietta, Georgia, has signed with the Webber International University men's lacrosse team for the upcoming 2020-21 academic year.

Career Path: My career ambition is to own and manage my own business as a successful entrepreneur.

High School Awards: Award of Varsity letter in Lacrosse and Varsity letter in Wrestling; Nomination for Positive Athlete Georgia for both lacrosse and wrestling; Varsity lacrosse team winning region 7A title in 2018 and finishing second place in the region in 2019; 2020 Crossfire Lacrosse club team winning two tournaments and placing second in a third during June 2018; and winning one tournament and placing second in two others during June 2019.

Tell us about the recruiting process at Webber? "Everyone I have been in contact with during the process has been responsive to my emails, texts and phone calls, which made for a very positive and rewarding recruiting process at Webber. Coach Chris Burdick is outstanding. My admissions counselor, Nellie, and my financial aid contact, Kat, have been fantastic. I was even fortunate to have the Director of Admissions, Bobbi Andrews, sit in for a while during my on-campus visit. Seeing the campus and facilities in-person offers an invaluable perspective."

Personal Statement: "I would like to thank my coaches, Tarve Riggins and Tony Legge, along with Kirk Pratt and Mark Stopher, founders of Crossfire Lacrosse; and my parents Kevin and Amy Cargile for all of their support."

Tell us about your siblings: Sister - Lindsey Whitmarsh (24); Brother-in-law - Byron Whitmarsh (28); Niece - Mayvis Rae Whitmarsh (10 months)

Tell us about your career and what you are proud of: Participation in the Habitat for Humanity Club. Earning the right to and participating in the Cobb County High School Coalition home build each year of high school. Playing guitar in the Pipeline student worship band at West Cobb Church. Finishing high school with a 3.0 GPA; Completion of the CTAE architecture pathway earning an honor cord; Recognition for Most Outstanding Project for my Senior Capstone Project.

What do you love about lacrosse? "I love lacrosse because it is a fast-paced, challenging, and extremely physical sport. I have been fortunate to play and learn the game of lacrosse in varying positions over the years from superior level coaches while making lifelong friends, and learning life skills. I cannot wait to play at the next level as a Webber Warrior."
