Webber men's volleyball announces 2020 postseason award winners
Babson Park, Fla. (06/05/2020) — The Webber International University men's volleyball team announced its postseason award winners for the 2020 season on Sunday, May 17, virtually via Zoom.
The Webber men's volleyball team started off what was its first season under Head Coach Carlos Jimenez 4-0 and then won each of its first three Mid-South Conference matches before finishing its shortened season 9-6 overall and 6-3 in conference. The Warriors were less than a week away from their Senior Night when the season ended due to COVID-19 and were three weeks away from the start of the MSC conference tournament.
Coach Jimenez said, "We were glad to have this chance to get together with the guys and celebrate the team's accomplishments virtually, while highlighting everyone's efforts through extraordinary circumstances. The recognition of our seniors and their efforts both academically and on the court was also the highlight of the evening, marking this year as a special milestone for the program with its first graduating class."

Player of the Year: Daniel Hermida
Academic Captain: Kyle Robertson
Most Improved Player: Orlando Fletcher
Sportsmanship Award: Sabian Cardona Martinez
"That's My Chicken" Award (This award is given for significant actions that contribute to ownership and mastery within the team): Christian Alvarez-Rivero
Leadership Award: Christian Quezada
Freshman of the Year: Bryant Herrera
Iron Warrior Award: Zachary Ayala
